I knew that your eyes aren't that bad. In fact, 6 times better than my old ones. Thus, does that mean that my knowledge of eye prescription is 6 times better than you? Let me try...
-/+: shows shortsighted/farsighted 1st number: the higher the worse of your eyes. I used to have -6 and apparently if you have -10 you are considered as a handicap. 2nd number: it has something to do with astigmatism that means your eyes sphere is curved like a spoon. the bigger number the worse astigmatism. I had about -2 the last number has something to do with Orientation of your astigmatism in degrees. It's those test they do and ask you which line amount different degrees is darker/thicker.
and if it helps my eyes are about as bad as Anita's were...
Also gratz on the new job.. i have a new job too and its awsome.. and related to engineering. I am a Quality Technician. I get to sit in a lab and play with stuff all day.. albeit carpets and insulation, but still... mmmm Imstron machines and thermal co-efficents....
I think you could use my glasses, your prescription sounds similar to mine - or maybe not, maybe I have +'s not -'s. So in all that was totally unhelpful of me and I will let the truly blind continue to lead you :D
And as Adam said, congrats on the job - it is so important to be enjoying what you do during the day. Maybe you can start recommending books :P
Yeah, I was hoping for something simple. Like you eyes are -1. your eyes are 18/19. or something. when he gave me the entire string I was like, uh huh, yep, way over my head... :D
